The Chancellor’s Leadership Development Program has given me the courage and knowledge to get involved all on my own. In high school I only joined clubs that my friends would join as well, but having the experiences from this program gave me the confidence to reach out all on my own.

My first year at NC State, I was an involved member of the Wellness Village and got involved playing intramural dodgeball with a bunch of village members that I had never really talked to before. I did this because this program inspired me to be more involved. I also joined the Pre-Vet Club on campus and remain a member of this club, though I don’t have the time to be very involved at the moment.

In my second year at NC State, I joined the University Honors Program and the Animal Science Club.  I became very involved in the Animal Science Club and learned lots of new things such as how to show cattle. In addition to the University Honors Program and the Animal Science Club, this year I began working in a dry lab at the NC State Vet School. I assist in research, analyze data, and will soon be learning how to use modeling software in order to help in more aspects. This spring semester I have also added yet another opportunity to grow, as I am now working as a Teaching Assistant for an Animal Science course I took last year.

Now I’m always looking to try new things, whether that be taking a leap of faith and trying something by myself just because it makes me curious or by seeking ways to expand my outreach here at NC State.
